Udinese Primavera won the Mladen Ramljak Memorial Tournament in Zagreb against hosts Dinamo. The victory came courtesy of gritty defence and Ardit Nuredini's first-half goal.
Speaking after the match, coach Jani Sturm said: "I have to thank the boys – they gave everything they had in this match. It was the fourth game in four days – we were tired and we knew we were up against a very strong team in Dinamo Zagreb, who do good work with their academy."
"We also had a bit of luck," he added, referring to the two times the opponents hit the woodwork. "But it's fine to win like that. Congratulations to everyone."
Matteo Bassi, the team captain, also cut a happy figure after the win: "We are really glad to have won this very prestigious trophy.
"Now we are preparing for the season, which will be very long and demanding. But this victory gives us confidence and pushes us to get off to the best possible start."
