In this Monday's episode of Udinese Tonight our youngsters were the stars of the show.

Primavera crowned a great season by winning the league last Saturday, and also present in the auditorium at the Dacia Arena were the U15s who won the Gallini tournament last week.

Here’s what a few of the protagonists had to say:

Angelo Trevisan, Head of Youth at Udinese Calcio

“I was hoping for a automatic promotion, and the minimum goal was reaching the play-offs. Before Saturday we said to ourselves that no match should be taken for taken for granted even if Reggiana were bottom of the league. But we had so much belief.

“Our youth teams are a long-term project. Almost all of them are Friulian boys who grew up at our club. We’re proud of this. I want to thank the coaches who brought these guys through. More importantly than winning leagues our aim is to see these lads make it to the first team and play at Dacia Arena.”

Jani Sturm, Primavera coach

“I cried with the emotion of it all. It’s been a very long season with ups and downs. It was pure joy.

“Our springboard was the Como game when we came from 3-1 behind to win 4-1; that gave us a spark.

“To be honest I wasn’t focused on winning the league, rather taking things game by game.”

Simone Pafundi

“I try to keep a cool head and have fun. When I joined Primavera last season I felt a bit lost, but in this campaign I’ve forged some strong bonds with other players. They’ve helped me so much.”

Ricky Maset

“I’ve always tried to pass on dedication to work to my fellow professionals. I’d really like to give a big thank you to the club, the coach and the staff.”

Salah Basha

“I try to give my all in every game in order to help the team. Obviously when I score I’m much happier; that’s what it’s like as a striker. I want to my game when we’re out of possession. We’re delighted to bring Primavera back to where it deserves.

“I’ve struck up a great rapport with Simone Ianesi. He’s got fantastic pace and is capable of providing assists.”

Riccardo Pinzi

“My dad doesn't give me any specific advice. When he coaches me in the first team it makes me feel a bit strange, but I got used to it.”

Massimiliano Giatti, U15s coach

“This journey began in August with the Gallini trophy when we lost to Atalanta. Beating them in the final at Easter was extra satisfying but I think we deserved to win.

“Now we’ve got Brescia in the play-offs; that’s our first goal reached. While we’re happy we’re keen to put in a big performance on Saturday.”
