Lazar Samardzic spoke to Udinese TV after his goal earned the team a last-gasp victory away to Spezia.
“It’s like a dream for me. I’m very pleased for the team; it’s been a great day for everyone. What the coach said is true. I asked the German Football Association if I could stay in Udine and turn down my national team call-up so that I could keep training and forge a better understanding with my team-mates. I think that was the best decision for me.
“I’m pleased to be here. Many of my older team-mates are helping me out and making me feel comfortable, while I try to work hard and give my best out on the pitch to help the team.”
