After coming away from Spezia with three points in the bag, coach Luca Gotti shared his thoughts on the game with Udinese TV.

In general terms, he expressed that he was "obviously very happy with the result and picking up three points, the only negative being that we were a bit wayward in our approach at some stages of the game.”

He acknowledged that while the overall performance was positive, “we could have read some situations better and we made some unforced errors, usually we don’t make these mistakes. We’re aware that La Spezia is no easy place to go, and we should take heart from how the team approached the game, as every single one of the lads gave their all.”

When questioned on Samardzic’s non-involvement, Gotti responded by saying that “I’d like to point out that for the last set of international fixtures he received a call up by Germany but turned it down, stating that he was keen to stay in Udine and keep on working hard here. It’s examples like this which make it clear what kind of player we have at our disposal.”

Regarding what the rest of September has in store for Udinese, the veteran coach remarked that “we’ve seen that Napoli, Roma and Fiorentina are not only firing on all cylinders in terms of fitness levels, but also playing good football. We’ll be facing the three of them in the space of six days and there’s no doubt that it’s better going into these games with seven points on the board than none at all.”

Gotti was also asked about the involvement of Udinese’s new recruits in Sunday’s game, and admitted that Soppy’s peripheral role was down to the fact that “he’s not got as many minutes under his belt as other members of the squad.” Meanwhile, the coach was happy with all of his players’ contributions in their victory and singled out young Portuguese striker Beto’s efforts, expressing delight in the fact that “he fought for every ball”.
