Udinese Calcio is delighted to announce the signing of promising young centre-back Nicolo Bertola on a five-year contract until 30 June 2030.
The 22-year-old joins after an impressive campaign with Spezia in Serie B, in which he played 28 games and scored three goals.
A modern defender blessed with both strength and technical ability, Bertola is considered to be one of the brightest defensive prospects on the international scene.
Born in Carrara on 23 March 2003, Nicolo came through the youth ranks at Spezia and broke into the first team during the 2021/22 season, making his Serie A debut – ironically enough – at Bluenergy Stadium in a 3-2 win for Spezia on 14 May 2022.
He spent the following season gaining experience in Serie C with Montevarchi, where he made 22 league appearances with one goal.
He returned to Liguria for the 2023/24 campaign, when he played 16 matches in Serie B and scored one goal.
Bertola has two Italy U19 caps and six Italy U21 caps.
Now he's all set for the next stage of his career in Udine.
