Udinese concluded the 2024/25 Serie A season in 12th place with 44 points. This marks the club’s 53rd season in the Italian top flight, including an uninterrupted current run of 31 consecutive years, a streak bettered only by Inter, Roma, Milan and Lazio. In the Coppa Italia, the team overcame Avellino and Salernitana in the early rounds before being knocked out by Inter in the round of 16. Compared to last season, Udinese earned seven more points, the second-best improvement in the league behind only Napoli, and doubled their number of wins (12 compared to six), while also progressing one stage further in the Coppa Italia.

Alongside Napoli, Udinese conceded the fewest headed goals in Europe’s top five leagues: just one, which was headed home by Napoli’s Scott McTominay. The team also let in only one goal from outside the box all season, a strike by Pietro Pellegri for Empoli. In Serie A, Kosta Runjaic’s men scored the highest percentage of goals from corners (22%, 9 out of 41) and featured 17 different goalscorers, matching the club record set in 2020/21.

Lorenzo Lucca and Florian Thauvin scored 20 goals between them, making them the seventh most prolific attacking duo in Serie A, level with Lazio’s front line. Thauvin scored eight goals, his best tally since 2018/19, while Lucca netted 12. With one assist added to his tally, Lucca became the highest-contributing Italian player to Udinese goals since Antonio Di Natale in 2014/15. Only Moise Kean earned more points for his team than Lucca (13, equal with Artem Dovbyk, Romelu Lukaku and Riccardo Orsolini), and Lucca also led the league rankings for headed goals with five, tied with Roberto Piccoli and Mateo Retegui.

With 12 goals in Serie A and two more in the Coppa Italia, Lucca was Udinese’s top scorer in all competitions. The top assist provider in Serie A was Hassane Kamara with four, while Florian Thauvin led the way overall with five assists including cup matches. The most used player was Jesper Karlstrom, who played 3,306 minutes in 39 appearances. Of these, 3,186 minutes came in Serie A, again a team-high, while Jaka Bijol played the most in the Coppa Italia with 225 minutes across three appearances.

The final match of the season saw a memorable moment as Matteo Palma made his Serie A debut against Fiorentina. At 17 years, 2 months and 12 days old, he became the fourth-youngest player to feature in Serie A this season. after Honest Ahanor, Francesco Camarda and Thomas Campaniello. And no player born after him (13 March 2008) has yet made a top-flight appearance. Palma had already made his debut in the Coppa Italia against Salernitana on 25 September, becoming the youngest player to feature in this season’s competition at 16 years, 6 months and 12 days. Meanwhile, Daniele Padelli’s appearance against Parma on 1 March made him the second-oldest player to appear in Serie A this season, behind only Pepe Reina, at 39 years, 4 months and 4 days.
