Udinese v Torino stat pack

Lucca and Thauvin the most decisive players in Serie A. Udinese looking to continue end-of-year tradition

Udinese and Torino have faced off 78 times in Serie A, with Torino just edging those previous encounters: they have won 29 times versus Udinese's 26, with 23 draws.

The last time these two sides met – at Bluenergy Stadium on 16 March – the visitors ran out as 2-0 winners.

However, Udinese have a strong recent record in the final game of the calendar year, having lost just two 'last matches' in 13 years.

Kosta Runjaic's men have picked up in the last few weeks, winning two of their last three fixtures – as many as they managed in ten games prior to that. If they can beat Torino on Sunday, they will record back-to-back victories for the first time since September, when they defeated Lazio, Como and Parma in consecutive outings.

Torino have struggled for goals of late, notching just two in their last eight games, but have kept clean sheets in their last two away matches.

Paolo Vanoli's side have conceded six goals from headers this term (only Monza have a worse record) while Udinese are yet to let in any headed goals in the current season.

Down the other end Udinese have scored seven headed goals (only Atalanta have managed more) thanks to the most accurate deliveries in Serie A: 27% of their crosses are successful, the same as Inter.

Inter, Atalanta and Fiorentina are the only three teams with a better difference between goals and Expected Goals than Udinese, who have notched 21 with an xG of 16.5.

No other players in Serie A have earned their team more points with their goals than Lorenzo Lucca and Florian Thauvin this season. Lucca's six goals have equated to eight points while Thauvin's five goals have claimed seven points – the same number as Charles De Ketelaere, Lautaro Martinez and Boulaye Dia.

The Italian centre forward has had a hand in 18 goals in 2024 (14 scored, four assisted). The only two younger players with at least 18 goal involvements this year are Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Charles De Ketelaere.

The Frenchman, who made his Serie A debut against Torino on 5 February 2023, has found the net in his last two matches and hasn't scored three in a row since 2018, when he was playing for Marseille.

After his match-winning strike against Fiorentina, Thauvin now has five league goals in 2024/25 – as many as he totalled in the two previous seasons.

Oier Zarraga scored the first of his two goals in an Udinese jersey against Torino on 23 December 2023.

Alexis Sanchez has also struck twice against Torino, although neither time in an Udinese shirt.

Torino's Antonio Sanabria made his Serie A debut for Sassuolo in a 1-0 defeat in Udine on 23 March 2014.

In term of players facing their former clubs, Daniele Padelli plied his trade for Torino from 2013 to 2017 while Adam Masina was at Udinese from 2022 to 2024.

Lorenzo Lucca (2008-15) and Razvan Sava (2020/21) both spent time in the Torino youth academy but neither made a senior appearance.

Kosta Runjaic and Paolo Vanoli will be facing Torino and Udinese respectively for the first time as coaches, although the Torino boss played (and scored) against Udinese in March 1999 as a Parma player.
