After their win over Roma at Bluenergy Stadium, Udinese failed to secure a second consecutive home victory. Kosta Runjaic’s team took an early lead, but in just two minutes just before the 60-minute mark, Sassuolo completed a come-back and won the game.

The first major chance in the game came in the 3rd minute as Sassuolo’s Kristian Thorstvedt took a diagonal shot and brushed the post to the left of Maduka Okoye.
Udinese started dominating the game as the minutes went by, first with Thomas Kristensen’s header, which was however too central, and then with Oumar Solet in the 10th minute, who dribbled past his markers and slotted it past Arijanet Muric with a precise right-footed touch for the opener.
Then the tempo dropped, with Lennon Miller trying to hit the target from outside the box after receiving the ball from a team-mate, but his effort went high. Sassuolo then became dangerous at times, but only one effort from Thorstvedt went on target, following a low cross from the left, which was easily saved by Udinese’s keeper.

The second half started with the hosts on the attack: Arthur Atta served Jordan Zemura with a through ball, with the latter moving toward the centre of the box; Nicolo Zaniolo came into the box and took a shot, which was however deflected by a Sassuolo defender.
Sassuolo’s response then came just before the 60-minute mark: first Andrea Pinamonti just barely missed the low cross from Armand Lauriente, but a few moments later he served the Frenchman with a backheel and Sassuolo scored the equaliser. Just one minute later, Pinamonti gave his team the lead with a header, following a cross from Ulisses Garcia.
Udinese made multiple attempts to equalise, with Nicolo Bertola eventually scoring, but the goal was then disallowed by the VAR due to a handball. Sassuolo then struck some counter-attacks, particularly with M’Bala Nzola, who also rattled the post on one occasion.

Towards the very end of the game, Gueye’s volley seemed like it was going to turn into a goal, but Jay Idzes threw himself in front of the shot to deny a certain goal. That was the last chance in the game, which ended in a 2-1 win for Sassuolo. Udinese currently has 32 points and is ninth in the table, alongside Sassuolo.
