Florian Thauvin opened his Serie A account with a well-taken penalty against Lecce but it wasn't enough to earn a first league victory of the season for Udinese as the visitors grabbed a late equaliser.

The 30-year-old commented on his bitter-sweet moment after the game.

“I got my first Serie A goal today but I'd have preferred not to score and win the match. We're playing better now. We put together lots of decent team move today but sadly it wasn't enough.

“I think it's more a mental problem than a physical one because we're working hard and playing well. We took the lead against Salernitana too but weren't able to hold onto it. We're getting better and hopefully we'll get this first win soon.”

Thauvin then looked ahead to the next game, away to Monza on Sunday.

“Every match is difficult. Only by staying strong and sticking together as a team will be able to win.”
