Andrea Sottil gave a post-match press conference after his side claimed a 2-2 home draw against Genoa.

“It was a good point, given we were 2-1 down three minutes into injury time. We were shaky in the first half. Obsessing over the result ahead of time does you no good. Our fans really fired us up – they played a blinder.

“Our second half was much better. While we got the equaliser through an own goal it was the result of a lot of persistence by our players.

“We need to keep our cool. It wasn’t an easy game today – we were up against a form side. I’d like to congratulate my players for staying in the game until the bitter end.

“In order to win games you need to show a lot of desire. Fear subsides when you approach matches without being obsessed over winning. We need to work on our mentality in this regard.

Thomas Kristensen is doing well. He was thrown in the deep end because of the injury suffered by Christian Kabasele and he’s yet to fully take on board all of our tactical concepts. He’s a top player but he needs to knuckle down.

“I’m delighted for Lorenzo Lucca. Goals are crucial for strikers. He played great today and he’s been working hard on his teamwork and movement.

“I hope that this draw serves as a turning point. We can’t be going onto the pitch full of anxiety – we need to play with calm heads. However we pressed well and played with a lot of bite, which is a good sign.

“We need to hone what we’re good at and iron out our mistakes. We need to put in the performance of a lifetime against Empoli.”
