Sottil: "Right approach but we must be more incisive"

The coach assesses Udinese's 0-0 draw with Frosinone

It wasn't the result he wanted before the game but Andrea Sottil recognised the merits of his team's draw with Frosinone.

“It's a decent point and our approach was good. After a couple of poor passes we got ourselves in a panic and that mustn't happen but I'm not worried because I know these lads.

“Lots of players joined at the end of the transfer window and some of them haven't played much. We need to give them time to work and bed in while making sure they don't get injured. It's not easy but that's what my assistants and I are here for. We have to get it right because lots of players aren't used to the workloads.

“We're still putting the team together. We created chances nonetheless. We need to be more incisive but I'm sure that once the new guys settle in and we get some of the injured players back we'll be more competitive.”

“We must improve and mess up fewer passes in midfield. Frosinone only caused problems for us when we gave them the ball. We have to push up more. [Hassane] Kamara did that towards the end of the first half and so did Festy [Ebosele] when he came on. Jordan Zemura can do more with the ability he has. He's getting up to speed.”

A two-week international break will give Sottil more time on the training ground. “But lots of players will be away with their national teams. We'll only be able to work with part of the squad. We'll make the most of it to get those who are behind up to speed and then we'll work hard for Cagliari.”
