On Sunday Udinese are going to face Sassuolo for the twenty-third time in Serie A. So far Udinese have collected eight wins, 10 draws and four losses against them, the last of which was in March 2018. Since then, they have never lost any of their 12 matches against the Neroverdi. Udinese’s last and only loss to Sassuolo in Reggio Emilia dates back to September 2016, while the rest of the matches were four wins and six draws, during which Sassuolo have never scored more than one goal. The Bianconeri’s last away match and match in general against Sassuolo was on 1 April 2024 (1-1).
Udinese have yet to win the first three away matches of a Serie A season. If they win this match, this unwanted record will come to an end. It would also be their first run of three consecutive wins away since autumn of 2022. The team currently have two players with very impressive statistics: Arthur Atta, who has made the highest number of dribbles in Serie A this season so far (12), and Thomas Kristensen, who is the player with the highest number of aerial duels won so far in the league (21). Oumar Solet is in fourth place in terms of successful passes (237) behind Francesco Acerbi, Mario Gila and Luka Modric. He is also in second place behind the Lazio defender when it comes to runs with the ball (84).
Nicolo Zaniolo scored his first goal in 2025 in the Coppa Italia against Palermo and will be facing the team against which he scored his first ever goal in Serie A, on 26 December 2018 while playing for Roma. If Sandi Lovric scores, it will be his tenth goal as an Udinese player.
