Read what Kosta Runjaic had to say to journalists the day before Udinese's away match at Genoa.
Genoa
“We're expecting a tough match. Genoa are in good form and have picked up lots of points at home, partly thanks to their fans. They play at a high tempo, man for man, a very efficient style of football and they beat Roma recently. We must go into this game with the right mindset – the mental aspect will be crucial.”
Bertola and Solet
“Bertola has been working hard to recover and he took part in two of our training sessions this week. We're happy he's recovering quicker than expected. He might come with us to Genoa but we don't want to risk him. [Oumar] Solet is ready to start.”
Atta
“We shouldn't expect too much from [Arthur] Atta in his first full season as a regular starter. He's improved a lot since he joined. He's got two goals and five assists, which is a very good return. He's developing and that can mean ups and downs – it's not always constant. We're doing a lot of work with him and he knows he needs to do better. Tomorrow he'll have another chance to show what he can do.”
Youth development
“I'm aware of and I share Udinese's ideas on seeking out and developing young players. It's a system that has worked well for years. If we talk about how much the young players have played, there can be differences depend on where they've come from, their age, when they arrived in Udine and so on. I think we're doing a good job with the youngsters. Atta, for example, has improved a lot, as have other players who aren't that young anymore but who weren't playing much before and have grown a lot here, like Zaniolo. [Branimir] Mlacic is a very interesting player but he needs to adapt properly to Serie A and to our training methods. In Germany they've had a very detailed youth development plan for academy players for 20 years. It's similar in Spain and England. Maybe it's not the same in Croatia, so you have to consider the level of the player's development. You can't reduce everything to how many minutes someone has played."
