Kosta Runjaic held a press conference on Thursday ahead of the game against Cagliari at Bluenergy Stadium on Friday evening.
“Tomorrow we'll be up against an energetic side with a lot of desire,” the coach began. “I like the way they play. They battle to the last second and fight back from losing positions. I've been impressed.
“All of their games have been difficult because of their opponents but we can be hard to play against too. We're playing at home tomorrow and we have to produce the energy needed to beat Cagliari. We need a good performance from all 11 players and our 12th man too – our fans. We need to make the most of their support and get the points.
“We can't do anything about our injuries. [Florian] Thauvin won't be with us. We'll see if he can make it for the next one or the one after that. The way he plays, it's important for him to be 100% fit because he gets involved in lots of duels. If he still feels pain, he can't train so he can't be at his best.
“Rui Modesto could have played the last match or even the one before. I base my decisions on what I see in training. He's training well, he's played minutes for his national team, he played a decent game in the Coppa Italia and he can't wait to play in Serie A but it's complicated. It's not easy to add new players at this stage of the season. In any case, he's an option I have. I've told him he needs to keep working and he'll become more and more of an option. I don't know if he'll play tomorrow but he's one of our possibilities.”
