Kosta Runjaic expressed his satisfaction despite the result after Udinese's friendly encounter with Cologne.

“It was a really good test for us with excellent conditions,” the coach commented following the 3-2 reverse in Sankt Veit an der Glan.

“Friendlies give you lots of important feedback and ideas beyond what you can get in training. Results are never the ultimate aim in pre-season but I don't like losing. We controlled the game for most of the first half and put some good moves together then conceded two silly goals at the end, especially the second.

“The fatigue started to show in the second half but that's normal in pre-season. Cologne applied an intense press on the ball carrier and we gave it away cheaply. We have to learn to stay tight as a unit when that happens and play simple passes with confidence.

“We have another game against Konyaspor tomorrow and we'll start with a different line-up. There's a lot of work to be done but one step at a time we'll improve our play, as well as physically and mentally.”
