Kosta Runjaic was beaming as he spoke to the press in the wake of Udinese’s 4-0 win over Avellino:
“I’m delighted to get this first win. We worked hard in pre-season and today we were up against a tough team – I went to scout them out in person last Sunday.
“We were great in possession, played solidly and scored some lovely goals.
“Brenner got a great goal – I’m really happy for him because he’s worked so hard in training. He’s still not at 100% - I chose him ahead of [Lazar] Samardzic because he’d had more training sessions.
“It was important to get off to a winning start and avoid players getting injured. We’ve now got time to prepare for Bologna, a top team. We’ll knuckle down ahead of this match and we aim to play our game.
“[Alexis] Sanchez? I’m focused on the lads I have in my squad. Obviously any coach would want to work with him. If he were to join he’d be bringing so much quality and personality.”
