Kosta Runjaic and Alessandro Zanoli – returning from an eight-month injury layoff – sat down with journalists after Udinese slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Cagliari.
Runjaic: “We lost and that's what it is. Football is a results game and we're sad about the defeat. All the match stats were in our favour but that doesn't matter if you lose. Cagliari were clinical in exploiting our mistake. They took the lead and then sat very deep.
"At the end of the day the result is all that matters. We were up against a solid side but we didn't deserve to lose. We squandered our chances. It's not a good way to head into the international break.”
Zanoli: “We came up short going forward today because we had opportunites. We were never under threat and basically scored their goal ourselves. We must keep working and prepare well for Torino now, when we really need to get some points.
“Getting can Italy call-up is something everyone aspires to, including myself, but first of all I want to get back to the form I was in eight months ago. I was playing well when I got injured. My first objective is to do well for Udinese, then other things are a bonus.”
