There was a group dinner on Sunday for the first-team squad as the players reported back ahead of the first pre-season training session on Monday.
The first interview of the season was conducted by Adam Masina with TV12.
“We’re pleased to be back. It’s always exciting to see your old team-mates again and meet the new ones.
Where did you spend the holidays?
“I was out in the open air in Trentino-Alto Adige. I had a few days by the sea but I find that being in the mountains and going on walks help you clear your head.”
Boss Andrea Sottil, who is preparing to embark on his new season in the Udinese hotseat, spoke to club media as he arrived on site.
How are you feeling? How exciting is the first day back?
“It is exciting and rightly so. I’ve had a month off to switch off and recharge, while staying in contact with the ownership and sporting director. I’m happy and fired up. It’s just the start of pre-season but the levels of adrenaline and excitement will steadily grow.”
What are you working on this week in the first week back?
“It’s a week to settle back into the swing of things with medical tests, active training sessions and we’ll start getting to know the new arrivals and their attributes. We’ll train once per day until Saturday and we’ll then have a match against a local team on Sunday before heading to Austria where we’ll really get started on our pre-season preparations.”
