Perez: "Less than we deserved"

Our Argentine defender comments on the draw with Monza

Nehuen Perez was pleased with Udinese's performance despite picking up just a single point from Saturday's draw with Monza.

“0-0 is less than we deserve,” he began after the match. “We played really well today, especially in the first half. It's a shame because we need points but it had been a long time since we last kept a clean sheet so we did well in that respect. As defenders, it's our job to stop the opposition from scoring.”

Perez also commented on fellow centre-back and Argentine Lautaro Giannetti, who made his Serie A debut on the night, before dismissing any notion of him being distracted by transfer talk.

“He played well – he's a great defender. We speak the same language so it's easier for us to understand each other and we were on the wavelength.

“I'm always totally focused and very happy to have stayed in Udine. The club has treated me well since day one and I've made lots of friends here.”

Next up is a trip to Juventus – a testing fixture albeit not one Udinese should fear: “They're an excellent team in great form but we have eight days to prepare for the match and we'll start studying them tomorrow.”
