An eye for goal, quality and a super engine are just some of the attributes that will soon grace the Udinese right flank through Rui Modesto.

The Portuguese, who owns an Angolan passport, has joined Udinese on a permanent deal from AIK Solna after penning a four-year contract.

Modesto, born in the Portuguese town of Vendas Novas on 7 October 1999, offers Kosta Runjaic another fine option down the right wing, having come through the youth ranks at Evora. In 2017, he moved to local side Vendas Novas before joining Vitoria Setubal one year later, where he remained until 2020 when he headed to Finland to play for Honka.

In 2021, he netted three goals in 27 appearances in all competitions as Honka sealed a place in the Conference League, with Modesto going on to feature four times in the qualifiers.

His output improved further the year after when he bagged eight goals in 31 appearances in the league, cup and league cup, which Honka went on to lift.

The switch to AIK came at the end of the year, where his inaugural season yielded six goals in 29 league games.

Modesto already has six goals in 20 appearances this season, showing evidence of his outstanding attacking ability as a wing-back. He also has four goals in six Swedish cup appearances during the present campaign, while he has already made his international bow for the senior Angola national team.

Now it is time for Modesto to embark on a new adventure in northern Italy, with his new squad number set to be 77.

Wishing Rui a warm welcome to Udinese!
