Lorenzo Lucca opened the scoring in Udinese’s match against Lecce on Monday evening. The striker played an important role in the 2-0 victory over the hosts but stressed that the lads can’t lose their focus now.
“It was an extremely important match. We got the three points we needed but we can’t take our foot off the gas. Empoli will be another big match at home in front of our fans. We need to win that one too.
“We’ve had a difficult season. It’s been hard but now we need to give it everything we’ve got. As a striker, it’s normal to get a bit nervous if you’ve not scored, but I shouldn’t put myself down. My job is to help the team, and they help me too.
“[Lazar Samardzic and Roberto Pereyra] really helped me out. In other games, I’ve been on my own a bit more. We’re all chuffed with tonight’s result. We’ve got to stick together now because we’re on the right path.”
