Udinese’s latest summer signing Goncalo Esteves was unveiled today at Bluenergy Stadium. The Portuguese was joined by managing director Franco Collavino and technical director Gokhan Inler.
Franco Collavino was first to speak:
“Goncalo is another top youngster in our squad. We’re delighted to have him and believe that Udine can be the right place for him to showcase his talent.
Gokhan Inler added:
“Welcome to Udine, Goncalo. I love how he plays and he’ll get a chance here to show what he’s made of. We’re here to support him in his growth.”
The star of the show, Goncalo Esteves, declared:
“I’m really excited to get started in such a competitive league. I know that I’ll need to work hard for us to win games.
“I’m great with the ball and carrying it forward but I need to focus on improving my weaknesses.
“I know [Joao] Ferreira and he’s said great things about the club, the people and the organisation. He said that Udinese had everything for me to thrive as a player. I think that in a league like Serie A you need to be an all-rounder.
“I’ve got many idols but my main one is Joao Cancelo.
“The lads have given me a top welcome and I’m really grateful for this. I can’t wait to take on other players here, especially [Rafael] Leao.
“I spoke with the coach and he told me what his plans are, while stating that there’s a lot of competition so I’ll need to work hard.
“I knew that Udinese is a historic club because my brother plays for Pisa and we’d discussed matters. I was aware that Udinese have been around for almost 130 years and have spent 30 of the last years in Serie A. Every player wants to play here.”
