Fabio Cannavaro has been announced as the new head coach of Udinese. The club is delighted to welcome the World Cup winner and 2006 Ballon d’Or recipient to take charge of the team until the end of the season. Cannavaro has signed a contract until 30 June 2024.

His on-field achievements need no introduction and have made him one of the greatest players in the history of Italian football. Cannavaro is a young, well-prepared coach of international stature, who has already had the opportunity to prove his skills abroad.

His playing and coaching experience as well as his undisputed leadership qualities make Cannavaro the ideal person to ensure the club maintains its top-flight status.

Cannavaro’s brother Paolo has been appointed assistant coach and Francesco Troise will be welcomed into the technical staff.

It’s also a huge pleasure to welcome back an Udinese legend, Giampiero Pinzi. After writing some glorious pages in the Udinese history books, Pinzi returns as part of the club’s technical staff of which he was already a member from 2019 to 2022. Pinzi brings experience, skills as well as his love for the club.

The new team of staff will take charge of their first training session this afternoon at 15:00 CEST.

Fabio Cannavaro will speak tomorrow, 23 April, at 13:30 CEST in the press room at Bluenergy Stadium.

Welcome, Cannavaro, and welcome back, Giampi!
