Ekkelenkamp stunner earns point away to leaders

Udinese return to northern Italy with a point to show for their efforts against league leaders Napoli, having put in an impressive and strong all-round display which means that Kosta Runjaic’s side have now only lost one of their last six away games.

 

Scott McTominay opened the scoring for the hosts with a header from an in-swinging corner on 37 minutes, but the lead did not last for long as Jurgen Ekkelenkamp unleashed a thunderous strike three minutes later which flew past Alex Meret into the Napoli goal.

 

The Friulians could have left Naples with all three points if they had made better use of a stoppage-time counter-attack, but were made to settle for a share of the spoils in the end, which takes them up to 30 points and they remain in tenth place in the standings.
