Gerard Deulofeu was interviewed by Udinese Tonight and shared his thoughts on how things are going for him and the team:

“I didn’t like what I saw on the pitch on Sunday. That being said the season is long and I believe in what we’re capable of as a team. I trust in the team but we can’t allow a repeat performance in our next game. We played poorly, we need to work hard to turn things around because this isn’t the Udinese way.

“We’d like to apologise for how we began the campaign. I understand how the fans feel. I think it’s not only important to get seasons off to good starts, but every single match. We’ve got a long week to prepare for our away game against Salernitana and we need to perform better in this fixture.

“Regarding the Lazar Samardzic situation, he’s a top lad. We can’t forget what he’s done for this club. We don’t know what’s going to happen, but when I saw him come back it made me happy. I want him to stay, he’s a great player.

“As for the mistake made by Oier Zarraga, I’m not going to single out individual actions, I look at the bigger picture. We need to dust ourselves down. Anyone can make mistakes.

“I’m desperate to get playing again. It’s a pain to be out injured, I’m really suffering for the lads. I’m working hard every day in training. I just need to keep this up because it won’t last forever.”
