Keinan Davis admitted he is looking forward to a brighter future after burying the ghosts of the past with a season-defining goal, for himself and Udinese, in the 1-0 win against Frosinone.

The Englishman's first goal for the club – at the end of a maiden Serie A campaign ravaged by injury problems – meant Udinese got the three points they needed to avoid relegation, sending their opponents down in their place.

“I'm so happy,” he beamed in the wake of the last game of the season. “I was out injured for a long time and I wasn't able to show the fans what I can do. But then I came back and the more I played, the more I built up my confidence. I'm delighted to have helped the team and our fans.

“It was tough out there today. We knew Frosinone wanted to win at home. It was difficult but we pulled out all the stops. I wasn't thinking about scoring myself – I just wanted us to win.

“Next season I'll be able to start in pre-season and I feel ready. I can't wait to get going again. I want to have a big season.”
