Gabriele Cioffi was a resolute figure in his post-match press conference following Udinese’s 3-1 defeat to Roma. Here’s what the boss had to say:
“We let Roma do their thing for a spell. We were lacking aggression and were poor in possession. We know that we should avoid this moving forward – we’ll dust ourselves down and move on.
“This defeat is part of our development journey. We conceded three goals from five shots. The first goal was so avoidable. We’ll learn.
“I couldn’t put my finger on our first half performance. I didn’t sense fear nor doubt – I was taken aback. We overthought things. We’re a team that needs to hit the ground running and play direct football.
Called up to replace Roberto Pereyra, Florian Thauvin scored Udinese's only goal of the game before being injured at the last-minute. “I knew he would have a good game. His preparations during the week were spot on. I'm sure any player I put on the pitch would have done the same. I’ve got full belief in this team.”
