Udinese's hard-earned point snatched at the death against Napoli shows that the team have the determination needed to beat the drop, says Fabio Cannavaro.
“It's important because it reinforces our belief to keep doing what we're doing,” the coach commented after Issac Success's 92nd minute equaliser on Monday night.
“We've played three of the best teams and always created chances – that's reason for optimism. We're trying to attack, we're getting bodies in the box and we're getting into shooting positions. That means we have less fear and more courage.”
Cannavaro also reflected on the replenished squad at his disposal, with Brenner and Keinan Davis both seeing more playing time now.
“Earlier in the season there weren't many options to choose from. I do have options and I have to manage them well. Brenner doesn't have 90 minutes in him yet so I have to gauge his playing time. [Lorenzo] Lucca is young and we mustn't forget he's had the responsibility for scoring most of the season.
Nehuen Perez and Martin Payero are available again while Roberto Pereyra is being assessed. “I'm waiting for good news from the medical staff.
Udinese's next match is away to Lecce, followed by crunch clashes with fellow strugglers Empoli and Frosinone.
“We know these last three games will be like three finals. We must pull out all the stops and believe we can do it. Our opponents are fighting to stay up too so we can expect a very tough atmosphere but we want to go and give it our best shot.”
