Udinese travel to Sardinia with a good record

Cagliari and Udinese are set to lock horns for the 55th time in Serie A this weekend, with Udinese having won 27, drawn 15 and lost 12 of the previous encounters.

Udinese have beaten no club more times in Serie A than Cagliari (the same number as against Atalanta).

The Sardinians have triumphed just once in the last eight encounters and conceded nine goals in the last two (0-4 on 18 December 2021, 5-1 on 3 April 2022).

The Friulians have picked up ten away wins against Cagliari, the second highest on the road after Lazio (12).

Sunday's lunchtime kick-off is likely to see the clash of two different philosophies. While Udinese have recorded the second-most shots on goal, 17, in their first three matches – behind Atalanta on 20 – Claudio Ranieri's side have mustered just five.

No midfielders have had more efforts this term than Sandi Lovric and Lazar Samardzic (four each) and the Serbian is also one of three players with the most successful dribbles (six).

Meanwhile Walace has intercepted the most balls so far (nine).

Marco Silvestri made his Serie A debut with Cagliari back in 2013/14, collecting three appearances that year.

The Sardinians currently have two former Udinese players in their ranks: Simone Scuffet and Jakub Jankto. The goalkeeper played 40 times in Serie A between 2013 and 2021 while the Czech midfielder racked up 65 appearances and nine goals between 2016 and 2018.
