Brenner Souza da Silva has spoken enthusiastically about the challenges that lie ahead as he adapts to his new life at Udinese.

The Brazilian made the move across the Atlantic from the MLS this summer, having previously stepped out of his comfort zone in Sao Paulo.

“I'm happy to be here. I'm expecting lots of great things,” the 23-year-old told Udinese TV in his first interview since joining the club.

“Slowly but surely I'm adapting to the club and all the changes. Playing in Serie A is a fantastic experience. When I was young I always used to watch the matches with my granddad and my dad. It's a dream come true for me to be here. I'm very happy to have this opportunity.

“I already know some of the teams and players. Lots of footballers don't like to watch games but I always try to find out about my opponents.

"I knew some Brazilians were very happy at Udinese. I had the opportunity to hear their thoughts about this club and its tradition.”

Brenner also commented on the early years of his career.

“I had some amazing years at Sao Paulo. I was very happy to grow up there. I joined when I was 11 and left when I was 21, so it really feels like home – that's where I'm happiest. I really miss it but I'm glad to have been part of the club.”

In 2021 MLS side Cincinnati came calling.

“I learnt a lot and matured there. I had some difficult times but I was happy with how the season went. The league is growing a lot and deserves respect. I have nothing but gratitude for the club that opened their doors for me and gave me a chance outside my homeland. I'll always remember it fondly.”

When Udinese snapped him up he became the most expensive player ever sold by Cincinnati, but he says he doesn't feel any extra pressure.

“I've played for some big clubs so I'm used to shouldering expectation. My biggest responsibility is to be a good son. I try to be a good person for my family and the results are seen when I play football.”

Brenner also has 18 Brazil U17 caps and six goals to his name. He dreams of turning out for the senior team but knows that for now his focus must be Udinese.

“Playing for the Selecao is a feeling that's impossible to describe. I hope to get the chance to do it again.

“My aim is to settle in as quickly as possible. I want to show what I'm capable of, score goals and bring success to Udinese.”

“I'm happy and proud to be here. I'll do everything in my power on a daily basis to earn myself playing time and to win over the fans.”
