Jaka Bijol spoke to the media at a press conference in the wake of Udinese's victory over Como. Here's what he had to say:

“You always have highs and lows in life and in football, but when you train hard and give 100% in every session, life gives you something back. We really struggled last year and only won one home game all season. This year we've already got two in a row and it's a huge relief for us all.

“We've made a good start and we're seeing improvement in training and in matches. This year we can do better and play better every game – that's what the boss wants. I'm pleased with our progress.

“Today I was playing with players who are even more experienced than myself. Christian [Kabasele] and Lautaro [Giannetti] are an example to all of us and they give their all for the team. I have to perform even better and improve with every match. I've been here a few years now and I really do believe that you get your rewards when you give your all. I give my all for this team but we can all raise the bar further.

“I'm happy with the way we've started the season. We're a different proposition to last year. We're a very physical team with fast players. I haven't seen any teams in Italy playing like Como, with players in the middle constantly switching position. We had to stay focused for 90 minutes and more. They had players capable of creating chances but we did a good job of stopping them.”
