Udinese sporting director Federico Balzaretti guested on the club’s in-house TV channel and shared his thoughts on the start of the season and other matters. Here’s some of what he had to say:
“We could’ve avoided the beginning to 2023/24 we’ve had. So much has changed and the players need to fully get up to speed with each other.”
“Our approach in the first half against Juventus wasn’t the best. However, we did enough to beat Salernitana and Frosinone.
“We’re only at the start of the season. We’ve seen what this team has to offer. There’s so much work to be done and none of us are turning back now. The players are top-class and we’ll improve lot.
“Serie A may be seen by outsides as being inferior to other leagues, but when players move here they’re blown away by how difficult it is. Our new recruits are learning and we trust that they’ll be fully ready soon.
“Every game presents its challenges and we’ll need to call upon the whole squad if we are to succeed.
“We’ve got to keep on fighting. The day that our fans see players unwilling to fight then they’ll have a right to be angry. However we need time for the team to achieve solid chemistry and for the coach to get his ideas across.”
