On This Day | Di Natale scores 100th Serie A goal for Udinese

Sanchez and Di Natale team up for a special milestone in a memorable season

Alexis Sanchez with the assist, Antonio Di Natale with the finish. Not for the first time and it certainly wouldn't be the last in the 2010/11 season. However, on this particular day, against Sampdoria on 5 February 2011, it coincided with a special milestone: Totò's 100th Serie A goal in an Udinese shirt.

The goal itself was poetry in motion. Sanchez, who had netted the opener with a flicked header, collected the ball inside our half and set off with purpose. With a burst of pace, he ghosted past one blue shirt before threading a perfectly weighted through ball between three more for Di Natale to run onto. The captain rode a last-ditch challenge before rolling the ball past the onrushing keeper.

Udinese beat Sampdoria 2-0 and went on to finish the campaign in fourth place, securing Champions League qualification.

It was the 16th of Di Natale's 28 goals that season as he claimed the Serie A top scorer accolade for the second year running.

In total he amassed 191 goals in 385 league appearances for Udinese (227 in 445 games in all competitions), making him both our all-time top goalscorer and record appearance-maker. He retired in 2016 after 12 seasons of stalwart service.
