On Sunday, one of Udinese’s best forwards of all time turned 52! This player won over the hearts of Udinese fans with his unforgettable plays and goals. We are, of course, talking about Marcio Amoroso! After joining the club 30 years ago, he left a lasting mark in Friuli, as he formed a memorable attacking trio with Oliver Bierhoff and Paolo Poggi in Alberto Zaccheroni’s Udinese. The team qualified for the UEFA Cup in three different seasons, with him becoming Serie A’s top goal-scorer in the last of them.

He made a total of 105 appearances for Udinese, scoring 42 goals, and he also played for the Brazilian national team, winning the Copa America in 1999. That same year, he left Udinese and played for other prestigious teams throughout the rest of his career, including Parma, Borussia Dortmund and Milan.

Amoroso maintained a strong bond with Friuli and Udinese, paying frequent visits to the land that welcomed, supported and loved him so much between 1996 and 1999.
Happy birthday, Marcio!
