Rome, 25 November 2025 - Sustainability, innovation and inclusion: Bluenergy Stadium is a success story that is being acknowledged by many, including Italian institutions.
Udinese Calcio received the De Sanctis Sustainability Award from the De Sanctis Foundation in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security as well as the patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at Palazzo Chigi, the seat of the Italian government in Rome, and was also attended by the Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, and the President of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina. The award was presented to Magda Pozzo by football legend Dino Zoff, while the citation was read by Michele Uva.
The award was first established in 2009 by the De Sanctis Foundation, in collaboration with major state institutions. It acknowledges organisations and individuals for their outstanding work in the social, cultural and sustainability fields.
Udinese Calcio received the award for the work it has done at Bluenergy Stadium, a project that completely revolutionised the very idea of a stadium, turning it into a sustainable, innovative, inclusive and responsible space. The jury justified its decision by highlighting the importance of the stadium’s infrastructural components, above all the solar park on the roof of the stadium, made together with Bluenergy, as well as its cultural elements, noting that sustainability is now an integral part of the club’s corporate values, its youth programmes and all its activities.
Bluenergy Stadium has been defined as a model for the community that promotes sustainable progress and effectively combines innovation, environmental impact reduction and social commitment. It has therefore been awarded the De Sanctis Award.
“Today is a historic day for us,” Magda Pozzo said. “We know that we are a role model thanks to our comprehensive commitment to sustainability. At any rate, receiving the De Sanctis Award for Bluenergy Stadium here at Palazzo Chigi is a great source of pride for Udine, Friuli Venezia Giulia and the entire country. Now, we want to continue moving in this direction to turn Bluenergy Stadium into a sustainable laboratory for sport and major events at a European level.”
