Communications manager Jacopo Romeo shared Udinese Calcio’s contributions at the 16th Forum Internazionale per la Salvaguardia della Natura (International Forum for Safeguarding Nature), which is currently being held in Rome and Frascati. It’s organised by Greenaccord, a non-profit organisation created to encourage firm commitments on the topic of nature protection.
The six sessions at the conference feature the participation of the president of CONI Giovanni Malago, the undersecretary of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security Claudio Barbaro, the former president of CONI and honorary member of the IOC Mario Pescante and the deputy director of Rai Sport Marco Lollobrigida, as well as numerous other politicians, journalists, academics and representatives of sports clubs, organisations and companies.
Romeo presented the club's sustainability strategies in the second session of the forum, which was dedicated to the contribution of sport to safeguarding the environment. The invitation to exhibit Udinese Calcio’s activities is yet another acknowledgement of the commitment made by the club in the field of sustainability, in which it has now become a European frontrunner, as demonstrated by its first-place ranking among Italian clubs in the Brand Finance Football Sustainability Index and its fourth place ranking at global level according to ESG parameters.
The club’s communications manager had this to say at the event: “Our commitment to all-encompassing sustainability makes us a reference point - and this motivates us to continue on this path. It was a pleasure to be able to share our message with an international audience brought together by Greenaccord and exchange experiences. Sustainability is a value of major importance for Udinese, as demonstrated by our commitments related to the solar-panel project at Bluenergy Stadium and our Macron match shirts. It also impacts on our societal contributions, such as the educational aspects of the Summer Camp project, which received a nomination at the ECA Awards.”
