Prior to this Sunday's match at the Stadio Maradona, Udinese and Atalanta have faced off 85 times, with 37 Napoli wins, 17 for Udinese and 31 draws.
Udinese haven't beaten the Azzurri since 3 April 2016 (3-1 in Udine), but two of the last four meetings have ended in a draw and Udinese have failed to score against them only once in the last 12 match-ups.
Udinese are without a win in Naples since a 2-1 triumph on 17 April 2011, when one of the goals was scored by our current technical director, Gokhan Inler, who later went on to play for Napoli himself.
Udinese and Napoli are the only two teams in Serie A yet to concede a headed goal. Kosta Runjaic's side also have the highest percentage of goals scored from headers (29%, like Genoa) and the best scoring record from corners, with a goal from every 16 corners.
Napoli and Udinese have the first and third best records for goals scored from clear goal-scoring chances: 49% and 47% respectively.
If Lorenzo Lucca finds the net against Napoli, he will have scored in three back-to-back Serie A matches for the first time and also reach double figures for the season. The last Italian to bag ten or more in a single campaign was Kevin Lasagna in 2019/20.
Lucca has scored eight headed goals since the start of the 2023/24 season – the only player with a better record is Duvan Zapata (ten).
One more goal for Florian Thauvin would see him better his goals tally for the entire 2023/24 league campaign (five). The Frenchman is one of two Udinese players to have scored against Napoli before: his goal came in the reverse fixture this season, while Sandi Lovric netted in the 1-1 draw on 4 May 2023.
Jesper Karlstrom meanwhile boasts the most defensive blocks for a midfielder (43) in this year's Serie A
Two Napoli players made their Serie A debuts against Udinese: Pasquale Mazzocchi, on 27 August 2021 playing for Venezia, and Cyril Ngonge, on 30 January 2023, for Hellas Verona.
Meanwhile Napoli's first and second choice goalkeepers – Alex Meret and Simone Scuffet – both came through the ranks in Udine. Meret played in the academy from 2012 to 2015 and was promoted to the senior squad in 2015/16 but never made his Serie A debut. Scuffet joined Udinese at the age of ten, made his Serie A debut aged 17 and went on to play 40 times between 2014 and 2021.
