Udinese suffered a 2-1 defeat to Roma at Bluenergy Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Kosta Runjaic’s team initially took the lead through Lorenzo Lucca, but two penalties allowed the visitors to turn the game around in the second half.

The first 20 minutes were balanced and uneventful, with Udinese creating the first significant chance as Jaka Bijol narrowly missed connecting with Christian Kabasele’s knockdown. Roma responded with Devyne Rensch testing Razvan Sava from the edge of the box and Evan N’Dicka’s shot from the resulting corner getting deflected by the Udinese defence. At the other end, Thomas Kristensen threatened with an effort from a corner, but Mile Svilar held firm.

Around the 30-minute mark, Roma had two opportunities via headers from Niccolo Pisilli and N’Dicka, but neither could find the target. Udinese broke the deadlock late in the first half after a lengthy VAR review. Lucca controlled Lovric's free kick with his chest and fired a powerful shot past Svilar.

In stoppage time, Udinese pushed again, with Lovric testing the Roma keeper with a left-footed shot from outside the box.

Roma equalised early in the second half through a penalty converted by Lorenzo Pellegrini, awarded for a handball by Kabasele. Shortly after, Martin Payero had the chance to restore Udinese’s lead, but Svilar made the save and Sava was called into action at the other end soon after.

Artem Dovbyk then drew a foul from Sava in the box, earning Roma their second penalty, which the striker converted. Payero attempted to respond with a long-range effort, but it flew over the bar.

In the closing stages, Udinese adopted an offensive formation in search of an equaliser, while Roma went close to a third with Nicola Zalewski’s strike from distance flying just wide. Despite dominating possession in added time, Udinese couldn’t find the equaliser.

It ended 2-1 to Roma, which sees Runjaic’s team stay on 26 points in tenth place in the table.
